Brian's Legendary BBQ Rub with Pork Ribs Recipe with Truvía® Brown Sugar Blend

Heat the grill! You’ll love this easy rub made with Truvía® Brown Sugar Blend, which can be used on pork ribs or any meat you choose. These pork ribs with rub have 4% fewer calories* and 83% less sugar* than the regular sugar-sweetened version. Makes 8 servings.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp (15 mL) sea salt

  • 1 12 tsp (22.5 mL) black pepper

  • 2 Tbsp (30 mL) Truvía® Brown Sugar Blend

  • 2 Tbsp (30 mL) chili powder

  • 2 Tbsp (30 mL) paprika

  • 1 tsp (5 mL) cayenne

  • 1 Tbsp (15 mL) ground cumin

  • 1 Tbsp (15 mL) onion powder

  • 2 racks (about 2 lbs each) pork back ribs

Directions

    Mix seasonings together. Rub mixture generously on all sides of ribs.

    Heat gas* or charcoal grill for indirect cooking. For two-burner gas grill, heat one burner to medium; place pork meaty side up, on unheated side. For one-burner gas grill, place pork, meaty side up, on grill over low heat. For charcoal grill, move medium coals to edge of firebox; place pork, meaty side up, on grill rack over drip pan.

    Cover grill; cook 1 hour 10 minutes to 1 hour 20 minutes or until tender and no longer pink next to bones.

    Cut each pork rack into 4 serving pieces.

    *Ribs can also be baked in the oven. Heat oven to 325°F (173°D). Bake for 1 hour, 40 minutes or until ribs are tender and no longer pink next to bones. Makes enough to coat about 4 lbs. meat and can be used on other meats.

*This rub with pork ribs has 430 calories and 1 gram of sugar per serving compared to regular sugar-sweetened version which has 450 calories and 6 grams of sugar.
