Chai Tea Recipe with Truvía® Calorie-Free Sweetener

2 cups (500 mL) of water
6 whole black peppercorns
2 slices of fresh ginger root
1 small strip of orange peel
1⁄4 tsp (1.25 mL) fennel seeds
1⁄2 tsp (2.5 mL) cardamom seeds
1⁄4 tsp (1.25) ground nutmeg
7 whole cloves
2 sticks of cinnamon
3 bags of black tea
3 cups (750 mL) 1% milk
2 Tbsp (30 mL) + 1 tsp (5 mL) Truvía® Calorie-Free Sweetener Spoonable*
Directions

In a medium saucepan, combine peppercorns, ginger root, orange peel, fennel seed, cardamom, nutmeg, cloves, and cinnamon sticks. Using a mallet or the back of a ladle, lightly crush or bruise spices to release flavours.

Add water to the pan, bring to a boil and simmer with lid on for 20 minutes

Add the tea and steep for 10 minutes.
- 4.
Strain mixture, discarding spices and tea bags. (You should have approximately 1 cup/250 mL of spiced tea base).
- 5.
Combine Truvía® Calorie-Free Sweetener and milk, warm to desired temperature.
- 6.
Add tea spice base to warm milk mixture.
- 7.
Left over tea can be refrigerated and enjoyed cold or reheated, stir before serving.
