3⁄4 cup (177 mL) water
Cranberry Cocktail
1⁄2 cup (125 mL) frozen cranberries
1 Lemon, juiced (about 1⁄4 cup, or 62.5 mL)
Ginger Syrup
1 cup (250 mL) cranberry juice
6 oz gin or vodka
1 cup (250 mL) club soda
Shaved fresh ginger

Ginger Syrup

Place syrup ingredients in a small saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 15 to 20 minutes. Strain and chill for at least 30 minutes before using.
Cranberry Cocktail

Crush the frozen cranberries in a small glass pitcher or 4-cup (1000 mL) measure.

Add lemon juice.

Stir in ginger syrup, cranberry juice, and gin. Put ice in low-ball glasses about 2⁄3 full.

Top with club soda and garnish with fresh ginger.
